These days, one of the things I see marketers struggle with most about artificial intelligence and machine learning is all the new language and acronyms. SO. MANY. ACRONYMS.
One of your developers or vendors will throw out a bunch of new terms on a Zoom call. You’ll scramble to find out what something is, does, or even means, typing the first word/phrase in only to find approximately 5170985015801858019518510 results, all of which are 50-200 page reports with lots of black-and-white diagrams and verbiage that could easily replace Ambien. (Yes, I know. Hyperbolic, but it certainly feels that way, yes?)
Throughout this site, we’ll explain what things are in layman’s terms, with a {biased} marketing viewpoint. You’ll learn enough to follow and participate in AI/ML discussions, and if you’re particularly interested in something, I encourage you to continue to research it on your own. Nothing here is exhaustive except perhaps my snark.
There are many sides to this AI beast, and it seems that most people have one area they are most fascinated by – natural language processing, computer vision, voice and image recognition, analysis, and so on. Like eCommerce and other types of marketing, it’s good to have a 30,000 ft up view of all the elements and how they fit together. This is a long way to say that these Down-and-Dirty Definitions will allow you to say the equivalent of “where’s the bathroom?” in the most critical areas of Marketing AI.
We’ll keep adding more definitions as we find them. In the meantime, if there’s something (a word, a phrase, a topic) you want more information on, please email me at info@eightbyeight.com or Tweet @amyafrica.
